Sometimes, I have to hang on to the Sermon on the Mount by my fingernails and toenails but I know the things Jesus has promised will be and until then those things are to be clung to in the way we live our daily life.

When my fingernails and toenails don't work then Jesus holds me. Through all that you are facing now and in the future, Jesus is holding you...and me!

PamAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19670264.post-59997312899606047102007-08-13T12:09:00.000-06:002007-08-13T12:09:00.000-06:00Thanks Pam - it might take a long time - but I am ...Thanks Pam - it might take a long time - but I am more than willing to seek out justice and healing in a tough scenario of denial.SocietyVshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10892870801259282254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19670264.post-51307801781829621012007-08-13T11:54:00.000-06:002007-08-13T11:54:00.000-06:00I'm praying for you, that you find some justice an...I'm praying for you, that you find some justice and healing.

PamAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19670264.post-5306566653920249522007-08-11T20:40:00.000-06:002007-08-11T20:40:00.000-06:00Chris no need to be sorry about not knowing - actu...Chris no need to be sorry about not knowing - actually most of Canada ignores this issue like the plague or has never even looked into it.

The crimes from these schools have been committed as far back as 1846 and as recent as 1984. Although most of these schools actually closed by 1969 - some still ran. However, that being said - all my friends parents were in these schools and I and most of them are all around 30 (1st generation removed in my family from these atrocities)...I am 32. So a lot of this stuff happened to 'our parents' (80% of them to be exact) and to 'some of my contemporaries' (much smaller number - 1 in every 10 or so).

If you actually study anything about Aboriginal's in Canada the crime, poverty, murder, jail, and suicide stats all are led by Aboriginal communities - showing real problems came directly from what happened to our parents (mental, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse) - which can be traced directly to what happened in those schools (namely dehumanization). If you get a chance read the United Church of Canada's website about these schools - they were fully compliant & fully knew how destructive these schools were - yet never pulled the plug until 1969 (but they detail it all on their website) - also do the Presbyterians. Sad reality to be perfectly honest.

So yes - this is all very current - it's like being the child of a vietnam vet (post-traumatic syndrome is detailed on the UCC website even) - and having to re-live the horrors your parents faced as they struggle for 'power' over their lives. I could detail what i lived through and what many of my friends did - but it is all so tragic (even for the children of these school survivors). Let's just say what happened made it really hard for me to love my own mom and dad - and I am somewhat emotionally numb as a person (which I deal with).SocietyVshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10892870801259282254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19670264.post-64395861558634361812007-08-11T20:24:00.000-06:002007-08-11T20:24:00.000-06:00Jason, please forgive my ignorance, but being from...Jason, please forgive my ignorance, but being from the United States I am unaware of the situation. Please clarify something for me. Were these crimes against the Aboriginal people committed in recent history? It sounds like that is the case.Chris Ledgerwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17905022342741427178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19670264.post-61712933729648606642007-08-11T16:38:00.000-06:002007-08-11T16:38:00.000-06:00Thanks for the support Jim - I appreciate it!Thanks for the support Jim - I appreciate it!SocietyVshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10892870801259282254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19670264.post-25176686534049522642007-08-10T23:43:00.000-06:002007-08-10T23:43:00.000-06:00this is the reason - hypocrisy. No one person has come to justice for a single crime committed - even though they admit to it!

I am asking all Christians to join in on the fight and call out these churches (or boycott them) that both harbour and 'aid n abet' people who committed crimes against humanity - so that we can see some true justice for the Aboriginal communities of Canada (in case your wondering why Aboriginal people don't attend church that much - this is the reason - hypocrisy).SocietyVshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10892870801259282254noreply@blogger.com
